Welcome! Let’s get started.
Welcome! Let’s get started.
Learning to surf can be a transformative experience. If you’re planning for a Las Olas surf safari, or just thinking about it, chances are you’re ready for change. So why not put your mental and physical needs first with Las Olas’ 30 Days to Waves challenge?
Our series of fun exercises are designed to prepare you for your Las Olas surfing adventure, but also a reminder to set aside a few minutes each day just for you.
This isn’t an intense cross-training routine that’ll have you begging for relief on Day One. Think of our challenges as tasty, bite-sized appetizers to get you in the mindset and kickstart your body for the journey ahead.

On your mark. Get set. GO!
Sunday
Let’s start by laying out your intentions. Create a journal entry answering the following questions:
- Why do you want to surf?
- What is happening in your life right now that made you finally join us?
- Or if you already surf and are joining us again, reflect on what you’d like to focus on this trip.
Even if you’re not attending Las Olas, you can still answer these questions. But wait, you’re not done yet. Down and do 10 push-ups! Visit Las Olas La Playa for surf coach Amanda’s exercise tips.
Monday
Sample a ten minute Tapas yoga sequence by Coral Brown on Yoga Journal.com. While on the site, explore the many yoga videos available. Yoga classes are offered twice daily at Las Olas, so you might as well warm up before your surf safari. Namaste.
Tuesday
Greens are nutrient-packed superfoods. Go on a smoothie making adventure with the gals at Simple Green Smoothies. We love this recipe because it reminds us of sunny Mexico where ripe avocado and pineapple are abundant, fresh, and tasty.
Wednesday
Still with us? Balance is essential for surfing, so it’s time to focus on your core. Go back to Las Olas surf coach Amanda’s exercise page and try 10 Super Woman repetitions, followed by 10 yoga push-ups. Your dog/cat will be glad you did.
Thursday
Add avocado to any meal. This superfood has nearly 20 vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients that we know of. What other goodness could be lurking in that magical fruit? Throw one in your smoothie for creaminess or visit Goop.com for our favorite Superpowered Avocado Toast. Name says it all.
Friday
Relax, it’s Friday. Download Headspace or Yoga WakeUp apps and settle into a guided meditation. The intros are free to try, so set aside 10 minutes to relax and reboot. Meditation and breath work are essential for staying calm while getting tossed in the whitewater and help expand your lung capacity. Be one with the waves.
Saturday
Saturday is movie night! Stream Dear & Yonder – an ocean odyssey of the female kind. The film features a dynamic cast of lady surfers and their unique stories. They’re all connected by their spirit of adventure and love for the ocean. Pass the popcorn.
Now that wasn’t so bad, was it?
